wELCOME TO OTTER ROBOTICS

Hi, welcome to Otter Robotics. Otter Robotics is a non-profit group of young engineers who design and build robotics projects because we enjoy it. Our current project is to build a robot that we can enter into Pi Wars (a UK robotics competition based at Cambridge University). Before undertaking this, we worked on another project called Abenteuer; Abenteuer is a boat made of acrylic that is powered by 6 AA cells and has a Raspberry Pi brain. Even before this we were still enquiring about our technological world - for example: I, as the writer of this article, remember first dissecting an electronic torch at the age of 4; much to the disapproval of my parents. Every aspect of our builds have been designed, manufactured and refined by us from the ground up and consequently have taken us a while. On the other hand, every single day that we have learned new skills that we can utilise in our current competition entry. You can find a more detailed project summary in the projects section of our site.

Our Story

As mentioned before, we do these projects simply because we enjoy them. Our journey started out when two of our members decided to create a robot. They used wood and vast quantities of hot glue in order to create an -if dodgy looking- robot. Because of its haphazard design, it was later named Dodgebot. Once this project was complete, the remaining 2 members of our team requested to join and Otter Robotics was born.
